“… I will not leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5c
As I read the words above during my devotional time this morning I heard the words “never give up on your dreams“ in my heart. It was a much-needed word of encouragement. I’d given up my passion for leadership and all things ministry. This resulted in my God-given dream falling by the wayside.
Joshua had taken the reins of leadership after the death of Moses. He’d been given the charge of possessing the land of promise for his people. A promise God intended to fulfill. However, God knew that as a leader Joshua would need to receive encouragement himself. Encouragement to fight when the going got tough. Fortitude to press on despite what others may say. Which is often the case in leadership.
Having a God-given dream along with the ability to see it through to fruition requires both time and strength. Both of which only come from sitting regularly in the presence of the Lord. Joshua 1:8 communicated the prerequisite for seeing his own dreams coming to pass and it is the same for you and I.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
To keep it brief… Know that our dreams and goals in life cannot come to fruition apart from sitting in the presence of the Lord. Know that your daily devotional time is of the utmost importance to your success. As we move into the second quarter of the year why not revisit those dreams and goals from the past. Are the children all grown up? Are you now an empty nester wondering what to do with your time? If so, now is the time to renew with a fresh perspective and hard gained experience in leadership those dreams you once held.
Enjoy life to the fullest!
