The arrival of fall always reminds me of my mother and candy corn.  Once my favorite seasonal candy appeared on the shelves of any nearby market she would inevitably purchase a bag for me.  It was our annual tradition along with me reciprocating the gesture with a pumpkin spice latte.   The two of us sipping coffee outside the café enjoying the spices of the season and relief from the warm weather.

For others, the fall season could mean a visit to the pumpkin patch, apple picking at a nearby orchard or farmers market.  This year I’ve decided to include my love of art into my fall festivities.  Incorporating the old with the new.  The rise festival is something I’ve wanted to be a part of for quite some time.  Releasing past worries and fears from of a lantern with a collective group of people all desiring a better life.  The joy of witnessing so many other individuals letting go of whatever has held them back for far too long.  This will truly be a site to see.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve made the drive to Boulder City, Nevada for their annual “art in the park.”  A beautiful outdoor gathering of arts and crafts along with food vendors for the palette.  I can’t wait to return.  UNLV has a campus-wide art walk that should be enjoyable as well and is much closer to home.  I look forward to seeing the new art installations by the university students.

No Las Vegas adventure would be complete without a visit to the Bellagio conservatory and botanical garden.  I last visited at Christmas time with my father and it was as beautiful as expected.  I expect no less with the harvest display.  I’ll top off my time at the Bellagio with a stop by the gallery of fine art.  The latest exhibition of Japanese contemporary art should be very appealing.
