In the days since writing “why are you striving” I’ve been on a mad dash to pack up and leave one home while renovating a new home before moving in. All by myself… The job is daunting and some tasks are completely unfamiliar. For example, flooring. I had no idea how expensive that stuff can be. The only thing worse than buying a car as an unmarried woman is buying a new home and making improvements.
Anxiety reared its ugly head as I ran errands, signed documents, continued packing and arranged for work that needed to be done. I was reminded more than once to “stop striving” as I worried that nothing would be completed in time for the move.
And yet during the most trying of times, I felt God’s grace guiding my every step. The flooring I found for one-fourth of the cheapest price available. I also received a great deal on paint as well. To say that I’m grateful would be an understatement.
So, what about you? Have you “ceased striving” and learned to be still? Today’s devotional time was a reminder for me to “be still and know” that God has my best interest in mind. Surrounded by boxes and to-do lists I strived to spend time with God and not worry. Here’s to a productive Saturday that is free from worry. Enjoy your day.
